Surprisingly, my writing found me with an invitation to be interviewed for a podcast. In my defense, it was the first podcast interview I have ever done, and I knew going into it that I had several different viewpoints than the host.
John Le Bon had read my article It Was a Long Time Ago, and It Never Really Happened Anyway, which was republished by the Brownstone Institute as well, and reached out to talk to me about the COVID Mania.
It was an interesting interview for me because his take on me was that I was an exceptionally normal guy, and not nearly some fringe lunatic writing about the perils of big government and how much the government lies to us (all of the time).
He does a great job of conducting the interviews and I think we surprised each other when we found common ground in the Ron Paul Revolution of 2007.
There was a particular moment in the Republican Presidential Primary Debate where Ron Paul began speaking about Blowback, and was confronted by Rudy Guliani. It was transformative for both of us. He came from the young, Australian, Socialist side of the spectrum and I came from the young, up-tight, and Republican one.
If you join his podcast group, in the second hour of the interview, he made a mashup of my final thoughts, the Ron Paul Debate performance, and Mischa Maisky playing the Sarabande from Bach’s first cello suite.
Both of the latter were transformative moments for me. The Ron Paul moment converting me to Libertarianism, and the Maisky take on Bach turning me into a cellist.
I will forever be grateful to him for that, even if my Toastmaster’s experience did nothing to remove my “Ums” and “Ahs”.

It Was a Long Time Ago, and It Never Really Happened Anyway
As election season rolls on and the nation looks set for an election re-match between the mandate ordering Joseph Biden and the lockdown ordering Donald Trump a sense of nostalgia for a lost and forgotten era has creeped into my thoughts. For my nostalgia’s sake at least, that was a long time ago, and it never really happened anyway.
Good interview! I wasn't into Ron Paul in 2007. Took longer for me to appreciate the degree of liberty advocacy Paul was doing. Of course, all these years later, I've gone farther into natural human rights than even he was promoting.
