I love Billy Joel. I wish he would have spoken out against the pandemic madness like Van Morrison did.
I had a similar experience when I went to a University of Alabama baseball game during the mask-phase. The stadium was only 1/4 full, but half the seats had yellow cross ties on them so nobody could sit there.
I also moved to a non-safe seat ... and an usher promptly reprimanded me and sent me scurrying back to may designated seat.
That was also the game I learned that the UA athletic department will NOT accept cash. So I couldn't buy a $6 Coke or $5 bottled water.
I've had a draft about the cardboard cutout people they put in the stands for awhile now. Haven't been able to put the thread together to complete it and tie it to a larger theme.
Next week I go back to our local outdoor pool for Water Aerobics three early mornings a week, which I skipped for 4 years due to mask requirements. Cotton or microfiber masks in the pool for Aerobic activity!?! Social distancing is still maintained. This is actually safest because you cannot be closer than six feet to another without bruising each other.
Great reflection, Charles. As unhuman as it seemed in some Florida venues, I think it was worse in southern New Jersey (where I live). It's good to remember and good to compare critically what has and hasn't recovered.
Another great piece, Charles.

There's a good column there. You better go ahead and write it or I'll steal your idea!

We did our stint in NW NJ. I didn't mind it, but I prefer Florida.
